APPLICATION: Enable reheating of combustion air with very hot outlet gases of metallurgy furnaces, glass melting furnaces, waste incinerators and hydrogen furnaces.
Convection recuperators (500 ºC to 1000 ºC) steel reheat furnace.
In these recuperators, heat transfer between the primary and secondary fluids is done by convection. When the flue gas temperature is very high, it has to be reduced by diluting air at ambient temperature.
Convection recuperators are comprised of tube bundles with the tubes welded to the tube sheets to assure gas tightness.
Radiation recuperators (900 ºC to 1500 ºC) glass pot furnaces, steel forge furnaces, glass melting furnaces and others.
These recuperators are used when the temperature is very high and/or when they contain a large amount of dust. Pressure losses on the flue gas side are very low.
Radiation recuperators are high temperature heat exchangers that use radiation heat transfer to preheat combustion air or gas for the purpose of saving fuel. These recuperators are used if the amount of dust containing is large. Major advantages of this design include a much lower pressure drop on the flue gas side.
