Basic and detail engineering of the air preheating system in the Fired Heater H3-H2

Aitesa has performed the basic and FEED engineering services for the installation of an air preheating system in the Fired Heater H3-H2 of H3 Unit located at Cepsa Refinery “La Rabida” Palos de la Frontera, Huelva.

Currently the Fired Heater H3-H2 is a vertical cylindrical heater with natural draft. The absorbed duty design is 8,170 MM kcal/h. It aims to increase the heater capacity to 13,910 MM kcal/h, so we have verified the validity of the fired heater for the new required duty, as well as for the new operating conditions, hot air draft.

The project consists of:

Basic engineering:

  • Thermal, hydraulic and mechanical design of the new equipments;
  • Checking of the operation of the fired heater H3-H2 with air preheating and higher capacity;
  • Fluid-dynamic design of air and gas ducts;
  • Issuing of the balance of mass and energy of the entire system of heat recovery;
  • Design of new equipments: air and gas blowers and air preheater as well as checking of the existing burners.

Detail Engineering:

  • Design and structural calculations;
  •  Issuing of drawings, etc.
