New projects for the A Coruña Repsol Refinery

Study and supply of the fired heater (furnace) for the vacuum unit at the A Coruña Repsol Refinery.
With a view to optimising the efficiency of the fired heater for vacuum unit H-1101, REPSOL contracted AITESA to perform a Study on the Technical Viability of the possible improvements to be carried out.
The object of the Study is that of proposing and assessing different options, such as a change to fuel gas, modification of the convective and an increase in heat recovery. A Dynamic/Fluid Study was performed on the distribution of combustion air and an Energy Loss study on the walls, ceiling and floor of the Fired Heater.
As a consequence of REPSOL’s assessment of the different options proposed, the following investments were decided on: To increase the convective interchange area of the oven using new seamless pipes and completely replace the heat-resistant surface of the fired heater.
These improvements will be carried out by AITESA during the October 2013 stoppage.
