In April AITESA was hired to supply a boiler above a gas incinerator with high chlorine content.
This project is part of the expansion of the new PVC plant that will be erected by Braskem, Brazil’s leader of the chemical industry, in the first quarter of 2012 in Marechal Deodoro in Maceió, Alagoas, northeast of Brazil.
The main purpose of this boiler is the production of 7 ton/h of saturated steam at 18 bar out of gases emerging from the new thermal oxidation unit. The top feature of these gases is their high chlorine content and high temperature at the exit of the incinerator (1000°C), which requests that any metallic material in contact with these gases should be below 400ºC to avoid high temperature corrosion. To meet this challenge Aitesa not only performs basic and detail engineering and boiler manufacturing, but also includes in its scope valves, instruments and auxiliary equipment such as compensators, blowers, pumps and sealing air blowers to ensure a proper operation.
By means of this project Aitesa proves once again its expertise in heat recovery equipment for highly corrosive gases.
